THIS IS IT!

Hi, folks!

Our PE Seminar came to an end last Wednesday. It's a pity because we had a great time developing our games in English. However, we spent our last session in the beach and we enjoyed it so much! Carmen developed a pretty famous game called "Boules". It's and individual game. First of all, you have to mark a line on the floor. That's the point where players have to throw their heavy "boules" trying to get as close as possible to the little ball previously thrown. We played two games and it was very funny.

After that, Dani explained an interesting and forceful game. It was played by teams in a pretty big rectangle. At the end of both edges it was the goal zone. Every team had to pass the ball in order to go ahed and score in the other's team goal. After that, Imma shown us a game with colored ropes. Every team had to draw with ropes the geometrical form the teacher shown in a flash card. Then, it was more difficult because there were forms inside bigger forms. A perfect game to relax.

Finnaly, I explained my game. It's called "Water Bomb" and you need two sheets and a couple of balloon filled with water. You have to mark a 4x4 square for each team and they have to be separated about 4 meters. Both teams have to propel the balloon with its sheet and send it to the other's team zone. They have to try to catch it with its sheet. If the do, they have to send it back. If one team can not catch it and the ballon explotes inside the square, it's a point to the other team. However, if the ballon explotes outside the zone, it's one point for the defending team.

This was not the last activity because after that we went to a bar next to the beach and I invited them to have a beer. It was the least I could after spending a great seminar with them.

See you next year!

BEST GAMES

Carmen explaining her game
Hi, sportive folks!

Last May 18th we developed our 6th PE Workshop session. It was about our "best games"; that game your pupils don't get tired to play. Imma was the reporter this time and, as usually, she's done a great job. Some colleagues couldn't make it but Carmen joined us, after missing last to meetings because she had to take care of her mother. Welcome back, Carmen! Before you can read Imma's great report I'll write down next meeting highlights. It's a pity because it's going to be the last meeting but we'll make a great ending session... We'll go to the beach to develop beach games! Don't miss it!

BEST GAMES (Imma)

Hi fellows!
This is the summary of the seventh session of the seminary.  One more time we had a meeting on Wednesday but, this time, the playground was only for us because it was very clouded and even it rained a little bit. Even though, we could play without any problem. The topic was “Best Games”, those games they always work with your students. We started that session  talking about our contact with English language: television, reading, conversation… and everyone  said  his/her experience about it. Then we played  five games with many moments of laughter and anecdotes. In every game, we placed with cones in order to mark the game place. We didn’t forget our daily routines before starting the games.

Playing Valencian ball
Dani introduced “Valencian Ball” –pilota valenciana–. We used a typical Valencian ball, but we didn’t protect our hands with special globes –as they do in the real game–. We started to play hard in two teams and  we respected the rules of the game, although I didn’t know them. We played a couple times and it was difficult to see and to hit the ball because it’s very tinny. We had a lot of fun. We should practice more often!

Playing 10 passes game
Carmen introduced “10 passes game”. We used a basketball. We were in two teams. Teammates had to pass the ball to each other 10 times in a row in order to get 1 point. The other team had to try to intercept the ball. It was also very fun to play!

Playing Bull up!
Marcos explained a game called Bull up!. Teacher chose someone to be a bull and it’s identified with a handkerchief.  Bull tried to catch them and they ran away in order not be caught by the bull. Only they were save if their feet weren´t on the floor (on the bench, on the tree, sat down on the floor but with your feet up…). If you were in “safety”, you couldn’t move until some other player touch your both hands.

After that was Fernando’s turn. Someone started being the “catcher”. The rest had to go away. They could be safe for a short time touching the cones that were around the playing court. There was a problem, of course, there were more pupils than cones and only one person  could be in a cone.

Playing Cats and Mice
We finish the session with my game: Cats and mice. Teacher and pupils set a rectangle and draw an oval inside the rectangle with some ropes. Teacher chose a few pupils as a cats and  they were only inside the oval. The rest of pupils were mice and ran only in the same direction and in the space between the oval and the rectangle. If a cat touched a mouse, this one was in that moment a cat. The game finished when all mice were caught.

See you on 8th June at the beach!!

INDOOR GAMES!

Playing dancing Eggs
Here we are again!

Last 27th of April we developed our 5th PE Workshop session. It was about Indoor games. This time was Fernando who took some notes in order to be the reporter. As often, we had a lot of fun. The bad new was four of us couldn't make it. Josep, David, Dani and Carmen missed the session because different reasons. Anyway, I'm positive they will be with us next session, which is coming in three days!

INDOOR GAMES (Fernando)

Dancing Eggs (María José)

This is a game presented in a real egg-box. There are nine yellow plastic eggs and one yellow wooden egg. The object of this game is to accumulate the maximum amount of points. First a player rolls the red dice. Depending of the what the dice says, players can attempt to be the first to take an egg, drop an egg on the table and then compete to catch it; or even get up and run around the table to try to be the first back to their seat. Dice commands are so but a little bit triky!

Playing Miss Mary Mack
Miss Mary Mack (Marcos)

It’s a clapping game played by children in English-speaking countries. In the game, two children stand or sit opposite to each other and they make different body rhythms while they sing a funny song.

Preparing Difficult Path
Oh, I'm blind! (Imma)

The teacher makes a difficult path with ropes. It’s played in couples. You have to say the correct instructions –Go ahead! Turn left/right…– to your partner in order to achieve the exit of the path without stepping on the borders of the path. The problem is your partner cannot see anything because she or he is wearing blinkers!

Cats and dogs (Dídac)

The group makes a big circle. They are the edges of the place in which the game is developed. At the beginning, there are 3 inside the circle meowing. They are the cats and they are wearing blinkers. Outside the circle there is a pupil barking. She or he is the dog. When the teacher says “The dog comes in the gage!” the dog gets inside and it has to try to get the cats by hearing where they are. Cats must get away from the dog. If the dog tags a cat it must identify it correctly touching her or his face. If the dog misses the identification, the cat must run away again.

HOOP GAMES (Dani Calatayud)

On April 13 we met only 4 students and our teacher Didac. Maria Jose started the session, with the game tic-tac-toe, but running, and therefore, with this change, the game was more fun. In order to play we spread out in the ground a square made with 9 rings and then, when the teacher said go, we had to run one and one at the same time to form the correct lines with our blue or red bags. After, It was my turn, and we did a game called the four showers. To play we needed groups of 5 students and 5 hoops. Four hoops formed a square and the last one was in the middle. Each student should get in a hoop and when the teacher said, swap, they got into a free  hoop and who had the hoop in the middle was the loser and then, he had to say: have a shower, then the others had to simulate as they were  showering and told to the pupil in the middle: you smell bad, and he had to simulate that he was dirty and smelly. Inma developed the next game. It was called the way of hoops. It was a race with hoops in which we had to pass a hoop in a row, sit down and get up every time, and the last had to run to be the first one.

Playing Hoop Way

Marcos explained  us a game in which we had to jump a rope tied to a ring that had rolled a student located in the middle, while others, in a circle, should jump it. When the rope or hoop took you, you had to go to the middle in order to roll the rope again. Finally, our teacher Didac explained us a chasing game played in big group and in a wide zone, like the basketball court. Three or four students were the catchers while the others run away. We spread out 5 hoops on the ground. In order to be saved, escapers could jump in the hoops. A student could stay in the hoop until another escaper said to him “Get away!”. Then the student inside the hoop had to leave the hoop and run away. The game finished when all students were caught.

Playing The Clock

See you next Wednesday.

BALL GAMES (David Moncho)

Hello everybody,

March 9th we develop our third seminar session. While people was thinking about “Falles”, we were thinking in PE classes. The topic was “Ball games” so every one of us develop a game using different type of balls –small, tennis, large, basketball…-

Dani started playing a game called "Throw through the line". We divided the place in two and every team set on its part. Then, we had to throw the ball at each other. It was a lot of fun to start today's class game. By the way, my team was the winner! After this first game, it started to rain so we continue playing inside the building, in an indoor PE class. Inma with their game called "Throw and lay down" showed us their good level of English and her great teaching skills -she is a kindergarten school teacher-. He made a beautiful children warm up, using many songs I didn't know.

My game was called "Bouncing balls". Every body had to move bouncing a ball with right/left hand. Then, you had to try toannoy your partner in order to push his or her ball out of the place. The games' aims were to improve both, bouncing and coordination. After me, was Fernando's turn. His game was "Warriors Invasion". We were divided into two teams, which had to throw the ball game. We had to try to send the ball to the opposing team. My team lost because Didac's team cheated! Carmen's game was called "Hunting ball". It was a very fast and funny game. We had to pass the ball each other. When you had the ball, though, you couldn't move. At a certain moment, Carmen called out one of our names and we had to try to touch it with the ball. It was very fun but also difficult.

Playing David's game, "Bouncing balls"

Enjoy holidays! See you on April 6!
